I'm Vic! I'm 25 years old and I'm going to see how many facts about myself I can fit into this first blog post!

I just recently got married so navigating that in a pandemic was an adventure. We made it work but my husband recovered from Covid days before the wedding. We had a total of 18 people at our wedding including us! It was beautiful and perfect and intimate but we didn't get to have a reception so we are working on a timeline for that now. The first four months of marriage have felt like a lifetime already in the best way. We fell right into sync and haven't looked back.

I come from a blended family but we don't use the term "step". I don't have anything against it, and I know that it is important for some people to categorize their relationships with family members that way. In my family I think we were all very open to the idea of having these new parents and siblings in our lives that we just embraced it wholeheartedly. That being said, some of us took a little longer to warm up than others, but I think that is pretty natural. We are really close as a family, and we owe that to my mom. She pours her whole heart into our family and helping to create those lasting family bonds that we share.

I work as a Social Worker in a nursing home. You won't find me writing too much about work. I love my job but it is honestly one of the things I get most anxious about. I will say, it is a pretty sweet gig. I get to spend my day hearing all the amazing, funny, inappropriate things that these elderly people have experienced and done in their lives. Navigating working in a healthcare facility during the pandemic was a rather challenging task, so I'm sure you'll hear more about that some day.

I haven't really had a lot of close girl friends in my life. I had friends growing up but had a hard time finding that group that I felt comfortable with and could count on as my "group". My best friend and I have been friends since 6th grade and I'm so lucky she has stuck by my side. I have recently been lucky enough to find an amazing group of girls through work that feel like home. I was so shocked that I could find a group of girls this close knit as an adult, but here I am, having friends and shit.

I struggle with self-image and some other mental health situations. I will share more about my mental health matters because I am passionate about advocating for and bringing awareness to mental health disorders. I want to make sure this space is a comfortable space for these conversations and to exchange stories and ideas. I also want to make sure that I am not only educated on what is going on with me but also what other people bring to the conversation.

I wanted to start a blog because I often have something I want to say, but I get too shy and reserved when I think about sharing on Facebook or Instagram. I figured creating a new platform for myself to start these discussions would be a good way to gain confidence and a community to continue expressing these topics on other platforms as well.

Thanks for listening to my first ramble. More to come.

Stay wild,

Vic
